Partnership agreement between the Finnish Representative Office and MADA Center

The Palestinian Center for Development Media Freedoms (MADA) is pleased to announce the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Representative Office of Finland to the Palestinian Authority  in Ramallah on the 31st of May 2017.
The head of the Finnish Representative Office Ms. Pirkko-Liisa Kyöstilä.and MADA’s General Manager Mr. Mousa Rimawi signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the two organizations.
This agreement; that is the second in row, aims at empowering Palestinian women journalists through raising awareness and capacity-building of women journalists on their rights as women and journalists, especially in light of Palestine's accession to several international treaties including (the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women) that will enhance the role of women in the Palestinian society and to focus on how to strengthen the position of women journalists in order to gain leadership positions in their careers.
Mr. Rimawi thanked Mrs. Pirkko-Liisa Kyöstilä. for all her efforts in supporting MADA Center, besides, the support of Finland for the Palestinian people, he also stressed out the importance of such a partnership (whether through its government or NGOs) that is based on respecting freedom of expression and opinion particularly that, Finland occupied the first position for seven years on the World Press Freedom Index by Reporters without Borders. 

Finally, Mrs. Pirkko-Liisa Kyöstilä. praised the work of the center and its important role in defending media freedoms, and stressed the significant attention the Finnish people pay to freedom of expression and opinion.
